When the pickup instalment and the card fall in the same week

A plain car key and a closed leather wallet on dark lacquered wood

In Mueang Narathiwat a pickup is often how someone reaches a site, a garden, or a delivery. The hire-purchase instalment is not an abstract bill. Miss it, and the vehicle the work depends on is the thing at risk. In the same week a credit-card minimum can leave the account, sometimes two days before salary is paid.

Households arrive at the Kaluwo Nuea office describing that week as a scramble: a transfer to the card, a hope that the hire-purchase debit waits, and a market shop done in cash so the account is not touched again. The scramble repeats because the two due dates never move, and payday rarely moves to meet them.

Separate the minimum that protects the truck

On the table we write the pickup instalment first as a protected minimum. The plan does not skip it to attack the card, even when the card rate is higher. The truck stays in the order as money that must leave on its date. Extra money, the amount above every minimum, is a different decision.

That extra is where the card usually belongs if its interest is the steeper charge. Paying only the card minimum while the pickup is current keeps the vehicle. Directing the surplus to the card, once food and rent are covered, is how the expensive balance shrinks. The written order states both lines so nobody has to re-decide this in the queue at an ATM.

Move the household’s own transfer, not the bank’s date

Creditors set their debit days. A planner does not ring them up and ask for a kinder calendar. What can move is the household’s preparation: a small holding amount set aside the day salary arrives, earmarked for the pickup, so the later week is not a surprise. Some households do this in a second savings account. Others use an envelope in the cupboard. The method has to be one they will actually touch.

If salary is irregular, as it is for some rubber smallholders and for day-rate building work, the holding amount is based on the leaner month, not the best month. The plan says so in a sentence. A good month can add to the card. A thin month still meets the pickup.

Read the hire-purchase page before you pay a lump

People sometimes want to throw a bonus at the pickup and finish it. That can be right, and it can also be expensive if the contract front-loads the charge or limits how a lump sum is applied. We read the pages you bring. We do not promise the finance company will recalculate in your favour. If the contract is silent or unclear, the order leaves the pickup on its instalment and puts the bonus against the card instead, until you have asked the company in your own name.

Bring both the latest card statement and the hire-purchase schedule to a debt-repayment meeting if this is the collision you are living with. The order is built from those two pages plus the rest of the list, not from the pickup alone.
